ABOUT BENJAMIN
Benjamin is a London-based award-winning Musical Director and acclaimed singing teacher. His training includes an MA in Musical Direction (Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts), PGCert in Vocal Pedagogy (The Voice Study Centre Ltd), BA (Hons) in Music from The University of York and he is a certified vocal coach with New York Vocal Coaching (NYVC) and vocal health first aider with Vocal Health UK alongside further studies with Estill Voice International and One Voice Integrative Studies.
His professional work spans theatre, television and international performance with recent credits including serving as Musical Supervisor for The White Handkerchief (BroadwayOnDemand, BBC 1 NI, BBC 4), as Musical Director/Orchestrator for The Music of James Bond (Germany tour), West End Misfits (The Other Palace), Beauty And The Beast (Panto) (UK Productions Ltd) and The Boys from Syracuse (Upstairs At The Gatehouse) and as Musical Director for Godspell (Ye Olde Rose and Crown, 2022 Off-West End “Offie” Award Winner for Best Musical Director), Ordinary Days (The Cockpit, 2022 Off-Comm Award Winner for Outstanding Show) and both Grease and We Will Rock You for Royal Caribbean International.
A dynamic and prolific singing teacher, Ben is held in very high regard with a crammed private practice of clients working as professional performers, dancers and lead vocalists across West End, tours, cruises and over 10 years extensive experience teaching at London's leading drama schools including Mountview, Laine Theatre Arts, Italia Conti Academy, University of Chichester Conservatoire, Associated Studios, MPAA Academy, Emil Dale Academy, International College Of Musical Theatre (ICMT) and D&B Academy. Formerly, he served as Head of Music for SLP College, Leeds and Head of Singing Technique at PQA College. He was also Resident Vocal Coach and Musical Director for internationally-renowned Spirit Young Performers' Company (SYPC) for six years.
Outside of theatre, Ben is also an experienced choral conductor, continuing to serve as Musical Director for BBC Children in Need (Hintze Hall, Natural History Museum), with previous appointments including Military Wives Choir, York, Harmonize Contemporary Choir, Park Grove Children’s Choir, BBC York in Harmony and Interlude Choir, London.
